The design for the Felecia Residence responds to a client’s desire for a unique dwelling while working within a modest budget. The kitchen serves as the heart of the house with spaces for working, living, and sleeping radiating outward into separate orthogonal wings. Curved walls connect these wings, creating a unique form and blurring the boundaries of the individual spaces.
On the exterior, each of the three curves define a specific outdoor space: formal entry, driveway, and backyard. Corrugated metal wraps the outer layer of the building, providing a durable shell that adapts easily to the unique form of the curves. Within that shell, thresholds lined with wood provide a sense of warmth as one passes from the exterior to the interior.
